OUR SYSTEM OF STRUCTURED LEARNING

The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy has been operating around the world since 1979 and in the UK since 1994.  This programme is available to every child from age five until they leave school.

Our teachers all undergo regular training in the Helen O’Grady Drama System which is used exclusively in our classes worldwide.  Of course, all are CRB checked.  Our branch Principal, Helen Walls, attends classes regularly to keep in close contact with students and monitor their progress.

Trial classes are offered to all new students in the 5 – 18 year old age range.

Fees are charged on a term by term basis and the Academy year is divided into the same three terms as the school year.  Special discounts are available where two or more members of the same family attend.

CLASSES are available everywhere in three age groups:

Lower Primary         5-8 years

Upper Primary         9-11 years

Youth Theatre         12 years plus

Our curriculum is constantly revised and updated.  A great amount of time has been spent developing lessons that include a unique and extensive range of drama activities, designed to capture the imagination of students of all ages.  The material for each class is review regularly to ensure it is age appropriate and relevant to the times.  Youth Theatre lessons include work on extracts from published scripts which may be on the current GCSE syllabus.  Principals and teachers meet each term to discuss and workshop the curriculum and a child may join regular classes age 5 and stay with the Academy for fourteen years without ever repeating a lesson.  The programme is all-inclusive and non-competitive, teachers are trained to develop at their own rate and each child is totally involved in all activities.  The summer term is spent working on a short scripted production, performed at the end of the year for parents and friends
